Commonalities & Singularities Transferrable Skills with Chemistry Across Restoration & Abatement
Cleaners, Antimicrobials, Coatings/Sealants and other chemistry-based products are helpful complimentary tools for some projects by simplifying steps, getting things done faster, improving work quality…and for some jobs the right chemistry is vital. Selecting the right chemistry is key, and it can guide smart choices. Some materials are useful to more than one restoration discipline. Yet each of the environmental trades involve at least one method unique to that contaminant, and how to remediate it. Thus, for short, we call this CEC: Commonalities /Singularities: to present chemistry tech and skills that are universal, and/or require special dynamics and products.
Asbestos Abatement EncapsulationCommonalities & Singularities Transferrable Skills with Chemistry Across Restoration & Abatement
Participants will learn about the Encapsulation method of Asbestos Abatement. Asbestos remains among the most prevalent health hazards in structure. Prized for its versatility as an insulator and for resistance to fire, asbestos containing materials (ACM) were incorporated into innumerable construction products. Only 30% of the asbestos legacy has been addressed, and there is to cutoff date as new construction still can install ACM today. While there is a vibrant asbestos abatement profession, everyone related to construction needs to understand the processes of abatement: removal, enclosure or encapsulation. Of these three, encapsulation is both the least understood, and at the same time often the most advantageous in savings of time and cost.
